A. Sadly, no. We do not have an overriding code on any of our combination products for security reasons.

What we’re finding is that some dials are being set slightly off centre.

To check if this is the cause, please follow the below procedure:

1. Set the wheels to the combination you have tried setting it to.

2. Push and hold the button at the bottom.

3. While at the same time, use the pin provided and starting from the bottom wheel closest to the button, rotate the wheels slightly from left to right.

4. If the wheel sticks in place, leave it there and move on to the next wheel above.

5. You will find it will spring open as soon as you have positioned it correctly.

Once you have it in the open position, reset the wheels which are offline.

If the above steps don’t work or you have the model where you need to loosen a screw on the top of the lock, you will need to return the padlock to us. We will examine it under our 10-year guarantee.

Sadly, no. We do not do an overriding key for this situation.

The European Committee for Standardization, or the CEN, brings together the National Standardization Bodies of 34 European countries to promote harmonised standards throughout Europe. Together with CENELEC and ETSI, the CEN is one of three European Standardization Organizations officially recognised by the European Union and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) as being responsible for developing and defining voluntary standards at the European level.

Q. Is it possible to have multiple locks that can be unlocked with a single key?

Yes, this would be referred to as keyed alike.

Yes, this would be referred to as a Master keyed system. One authorised key holder can have the ‘master key’ to a series of locks under their control, those locks have individual keys as well as a ‘master key’.

Squire can supply additional locks for many of our ranges.

For our cylinders, we can only supply to match our ‘Stronghold’ range.

Please visit your nearest dealer with a key and details of your current lock. Please see our Stockists page for further details on dealers.

We recommend the use of a silicone-based spray to lubricate the lock. Never try to force the key as the key could snap off in the lock. Spray the lubricant directly in the keyway of the lock, once sprayed leave to soak for a few minutes. Once left to soak, gently wiggle the key until it begins to free up. Repeat the process if necessary until it becomes easier to turn.

We suggest monthly. This is to ensure the lock is working to its full capacity, regardless of the conditions of where the lock is applied.

Please contact us and we will be more than happy to give you more information.

In order to preserve the working life of your padlocks, we recommend good housekeeping of the product. We do advertise our products as suitable for harsh outdoor working environments, but we also temper this statement by asking the customer to provide regular maintenance by way of cleaning and oiling the lock on a regular basis.

Use a soft cotton cloth to clean affected external areas and spray the keyway monthly with a silicone-based lubricate.

Areas to concentrate on are:

1. Shackle bolt retention hole

2. Shackle bolt entry hole

3. Shackle bolt

4. Combination wheels – Combination locks

5. Press the release button – Combination locks

6. Keys – Keyed locks

7. Cylinder Area (Not just keyhole) – Keyed locks

8. Body area – Both combination and keyed locks

With combination locks, history has shown us that the two areas most likely to seize are the wheels and the press release button. To ease and remove any contamination, spray some lubricant on the wheels and then swiftly turn the wheels with fingers or the recoding tool. This usually gets rid of the contamination and frees the wheels. Then spray the button area and repeatedly press the button until you can feel it move.

With keyed locks, the cylinder area is the essential area to keep clean. Apply a liberal spray of lubricant into the cylinder and on the key. Then enter the key slowly but repeatedly and turn the key repeatedly to flush out any contamination.

Please contact your local locksmiths.

The Guardsman

The Guardsman consists of two barrier posts, an arm post and locking post. These sit opposite each other, inside the garage, behind the two piers. Both posts are fixed permanently into the floor and into the wall. To lock, pull down the barrier arm, using the handle. Slide the barrier arm across the garage opening and insert the arm end into the lock housing. Using the Squire padlock WS75S lock the barrier in place. To unlock repeat this process in reverse.

This then forms a physical barrier across your garage door opening and prevents any large items, such as cars or motorbikes from being stolen.

The Guardsman locks using the Squire WS75S padlock across the top of the Guardsman locking post preventing the end from being released from the locking post.

The Guardsman comes with a 10-year guarantee.

Yes – the Guardsman garage security barrier has been approved by BeMoto insurance company. As it’s such a new product we are working on having other insurers also approve and recognise it.

When you come to renewal, if you phone BeMoto and tell them you have a Squire Guardsman in place they will give a discount on your renewal of up to 10%*.

*This is at the discretion of BeMoto

Ultimately the customer can decide where the Guardsman garage security barrier is installed, outside or in. However, we recommend that it is positioned on the inside of your garage, behind the garage pier/frame. The reason for this is that it does not advertise to the outside world that you have something to protect. The pier and garage frame make it extremely difficult for a thief to attack the barrier in this position. When in the upright, unlocked position it is very unobtrusive, taking up little floor space, maximising garage usable space and minimising trip hazards compared to conventional floor anchors and chains.

A concrete floor is needed to install the fixings to secure the Guardsman in place.

Yes; We have an option of adding an anchor point to either of the Guardsman posts. This gives that extra layer of security and can be used for other items such as push bikes, ladders etc.

The anchor point bolts into place with a ball bearing knocked into the bolt head to prevent tampering.

The anchor points can also be retro-fit at a later date if required.

The average weight of a bike is around 200kg. I think you’d want a team of guys to attempt to pick a bike up. Also, the height restriction of an up and over door means you can’t just lift it straight over the Guardsman. The bike would need to be tipped on to its side and shuffled out, that’s if mathematically its possible – this depends on your garage dimensions and size of your bike. Again, it’s more hassle and potential injury, then its worth.

The average bike width is 900mm with handle bars at full lock. The barrier sits 675mm from floor to underside of the arm. The average bike would not be pulled underneath.

Incorrect, the telescopic 3mm high-grade stainless-steel tubular arm can hold over 300KG of weight before any ‘bending’ is seen.

The Guardsman garage security barrier is fixed into the ground by 4 sleeve anchors with shear off nuts. The shear off nuts leaves a permanent fixing in place which cannot be tampered by the would-be thief. We also secure each post into the wall (if dimensions allow) which both helps to stabilise the arm post but also adds an additional point of fixing.

Yes, this is possible. We will need to come out to site and remove the fixings in order to remove the barrier. This requires specialist tools and equipment and would incur a cost. We would then be able to reinstall the barrier at your new location.
