Squire supports National Highways with Stronghold® padlocks

National Highways is responsible for operating, maintaining and improve motorways and major A roads in England. Comprising over 4,000 miles of road and a multitude of infrastructure assets, National Highways need to ensure access points to these areas remain secure at all times.

To achieve this, National Highways partnered with leading security manufacturer Squire, who provide high-performance solutions for protecting critical infrastructure assets within the Midlands Region.

Protecting critical infrastructure assets

Across the road network, National Highways need to prevent unauthorised access to protect infrastructure assets, the general public and indeed its own workforce and supply-chain partners.

Secure, reliable access

Reliable padlocks are crucial to protect the safety of both the assets and the National Highways workforce. Squire provided 129 Stronghold® SS65S padlocks with a protected key profile for extra security - only Squire can produce copies upon presentation of a security key card. The padlocks are robust and durable, suitable for outdoor motorway environments, including areas consistently affected by moisture, vibration and harsh weather conditions.

The Stronghold® SS65S features a hardened boron alloy steel shackle and is designed for demanding environments. With a CEN 5 security rating, the Stronghold® SS65S combines reliability, security and durability. Following the installation of the Stronghold® SS65S padlocks, National Highways now has a long-term, secure solution for safeguarding its infrastructure assets.

Securing the future of England’s road network

Michael Del-Giudice, Structures Engineering Team Manager from National Highways said: “Squire has provided us with a robust and reliable security solution that gives National Highways real confidence in the protection of our infrastructure assets within the Midlands Region.”

Paul Holmes, Key Account Manager at Squire, added: “We were pleased to be able to provide National Highways with a solution that not only solved an immediate problem but also ensured long-term protection.

“By incorporating our robust Stronghold® padlocks with a protected key profile, we’ve been able to enhance security, prevent unauthorised key duplication and give their teams confidence that critical infrastructure is reliably safeguarded. We were pleased to be able to provide a solution which ensures National Highways’ teams can safely and reliably access critical infrastructure protecting vital motorway assets now and in the future.

“Squire looks forward to continuing its partnership with National Highways, helping safeguard England’s road network for years to come.”
